Encyclopedia of Automotive Systems
Challenge:
Translating tech-talk into plain-speak
A customer wants to know something about a vehicle system, but the sales consultant needs help to explain it. The other salespeople are busy helping other customers. The car isn’t talking. Where can the sales consultant turn?
Our challenge was to create a do-it-yourself resource for sales consultants. The task involved developing an encyclopedia to explain automotive systems using easy-to-understand language, and to present the information in an accessible manner.
We needed to delve into the world of technical thinking, and return with easy answers.
Solution:
Master the technical world, then simplify it
To create the Nissan Encyclopedia and update it every year, we meet with product planners and subject matter experts. Once the data is collected, our team “translates” it, using understandable English and carefully chosen visuals. We assume that sales consultants have limited technical knowledge. This ensures people at every level of technical expertise will be able to find and understand information easily, and feel confident enough in their knowledge to explain it to customers.
