Nissan and Infiniti E-Certification

Challenge:
Create efficient online training to assist with certification

As part of their ongoing training, Nissan dealership personnel take certification tests to demonstrate proficient knowledge of vehicles, processes, and special topics. But where does that knowledge come from? In the past, resources included hefty notebooks and targeted print pieces, online tools, and a host of other documents that required reading and rote memorization.

The resulting knowledge may have been proficient, but the learning method proved inefficient.

Nissan asked us to create a one-stop, streamlined, multimedia e-learning solution that would educate viewers in 30 minutes or less and ensure that they were truly learning the necessary information.

And, understandably, they asked us to keep costs down.

Solution:
Educate, animate, Articulate

Our solution centered around Articulate software. It provides a fast, low-cost production outlet. We worked with our client to isolate the critical information for each course and set about delivering it through animation, voiceover, links, and videos. An interactive design ensures that the course moves at a comfortable pace — fast enough to keep things interesting, but not so fast that viewers miss the point.

To accommodate viewer needs, the courses can be navigated, paused, stopped, and started again later. This flexibility allows the viewer to take notes, review material, or tend to interruptions that are typical in a dealership. The one thing the courses won’t do? Fast forward. Our client wanted the courses to be viewed in their entirety prior to the certification test being offered. This feature guarantees that all of the relevant information has been presented.

Success is a matter of course

The Nissan dealership personnel really clicked with the online learning. The courses have been completely embraced as an efficient part of training. Achieving certification has never been easier. To date, we’ve completed courses for every vehicle in the lineup, along with processes such as delivery, and special topics such as how to utilize various sales resources.

So what’s next? As new vehicles and topics arise, the plan is to stay the course.
